Fingal Ferguson, bladesmith, butcher, farmerculinary artisan extraordinairebrings his multifaceted vision to life in every chef knife he makes. From his workshop on the Gubbeen Farm in West Cork, where his family has crafted food for five generations, Fingal creates tools that reflect both his hands-on kitchen expertise and his commitment to craft. This one-of-a-kind chefs knife, forged from a collaborative steel billet made by Austrian metalsmith and Eatingtools artist Tobias Hanger, showcases that ethos in full. Measuring 210mm / 8.3″, the blade boasts polished, high-contrast damascus cladding with a gleaming line of pure nickel layered over a core of ApexUltra, the cutting edge tungsten-carbon steel developed by Tobias for serious edge retention, wear resistance, and fine-grained sharpness. Thin at the edge beneath symmetrical, subtly convex bevel geometry, the blade is dynamic and versatile, its tapered spine and fine tip built for detail work and precision slicing, while also providing ample knuckle clearance and toughness for the biggest chopping tasks.Hammer marks from the hand-forging process remain visible along the tang before the metal disappears into a beautiful and ergonomic wa-inspired handle. Anchored by a gorgeous piece of maple burl, Fingal pairs with it a bolster of cross-cut carbon fiber, a large and unique mosaic pin, and finally, a ring of fossilized mammoth tooth set between rings of polished stainless steel. Every surface reflects Fingals refined touch and practical sensibility.Built to work, designed to inspirethis knife is a true reflection of Fingal Fergusons world: rooted in tradition, elevated by artistry.
