Vermont artist Nick Anger’s contribution to The Art of Cutlery, a cleaver named”Almost There,” on show during summer 2024 in Tribeca, NYC, challenges the more traditional approaches to pattern tiling in mosaic damascus design. Hand-forged with integral bolster construction, the 220mm long by 100mm tall blade of carbon damascus steel features an organic and playful aesthetic in which many tiles combine to form a singular visual effect. The handle, sculpted from three intentionally combined cuts of the same piece of stabilized maple wood, features a butt cap of the same damascus pattern as that of the blade. Almost There is presented on a unique, magnetic, wall-mounted stand designed and created by the artist. This knife is razor-sharp and built to cook with.
