Australian artist and Master Bladesmith Jackson Rumble’s contribution to The Art of Cutlery, a two-knife chef’s set named”Bagua,” on show during summer 2024 in Tribeca, NYC, explores the light and dark; yin and yang; ebony and ivory; the balance between all things in the world; using humanity’s oldest tool, the knife, as his canvas. Hand forged with integral bolster construction, the contrasting blades present the same intricate, feathered damascus pattern in which the steel alloys are inverted from one to the other. The handles are contrasted in the same way, one sculpted from ebony wood, the other from ivory-toned micarta. Bagua is presented on an elegant stand of redgum wood designed and created by the artist.
