It is an honor, and a thrill, to add another elusive, extraordinary, and classic Bob Kramer damascus chef knife to our collection. Crafted at his studioin Washington in 2007, this build features a 200mm / 8″ blade forged by hand from Bob’s rarely-seen Firestorm pattern carbon damascus steel. Finished with a beautiful polish and etch, the results, as seen in these photos, speak for themselves. Handled in striking snakewoodcomplemented bypolished brass bolsters and pins, with custom Bob Kramer wooden saya included, this one-of-a-kind is pre-owned in excellent condition. After being used by a previous owner for a single cooking class, it was put away until 2018 when it was sent to Bob to be inspected and certified, and that paperwork will be included with this sale. That certification is dated 5/1/2018 and the knife has not been used since. The overall condition of the knife is outstanding from top to bottom with one relatively minor yet notable exception: as can be seen in the detail photos on this page, the primary bevel, aka ‘edge,’ are unevenly honed in the final inch nearest the tip. The polish, sharpness, and overall profile of the secondary bevels all appear, on both sides of the blade, to be in outstanding condition, with great care paid to their upkeep, yet as you can see the width of that secondary bevel on the left side near the tip is wider than expected, and wider than its corresponding bevel on the blade’s right side. With the exception of this feature which shows that the knife was used at least once and that the edge was either sharpened, honed, or both, the knife, from the edge at all other points along its length, to the condition of the damascus and primary bevels, to the handle, and saya, all represent an object in excellent condition, cared for with the utmost integrity.
