Metalworker Erica Moody designed and made the first Brass & Steel Pie Server the night before a friend’s recent birthday. The resulting form, “the simple plane of the brass with the curved line of the steel leaving and returning to it,” immediately brought back memories of her great-grandmother cooking with beautiful old tools in rural Kentucky…. And the Brass & Steel Pie Server was born. The thin brass blade is riveted with brass pins to a hand forged steel handle, seasoned like a cast iron pan would be for durability. The blade has just the right amount of flex while being sturdy enough for the hardiest of pies.
