This beautiful, hand-hammered vessel and spoon set complements any interior, whether at homein the dining room tostoreyour preferredfinishing salt, or in the kitchen topped off with crystal kosher salt. Part copper sculpture and part culinary tool, husband-wife team Rex and Marsha Morton of Mountain Metalsmiths show off their many talents, the results of their combined decades of coppersmithing experience, in this piece of functional art. Three pieces of art, to be precise: The cellar itself boasts elegant, contoured walls that flare outward toward the base, a notch at the rim in which the spoon rests, and a small post with which to receive the lid. The elegant, domed lid, also bearing the hammer marks of the object’s hand-hewn origins, is capped with a decorative Vine handle, giving each a one-of-a-kind adornment. Made removeable to use the cellar with or without it, the lid includes a hole to receive the post built into the cellar so that it can easily opened and closed. Finally, a handsome and simple salt spoon, also forged from solid copper, completes the three-piece set. Each is sealed with a food-safe varnish for longevity.
