Wood is a natural product prone to drying and warping. Components like the lid pull and handle, exposed to high heat and moisture, may dry out and crack over time. To prevent this, apply mineral oil to the lid pull and handle once per month and buff with a soft cloth. Do this whenever the wood feels especially dry.
At higher elevations, water boils at a lower temperature. At sea level, water boils at 100C. For every 500 feet/152 meters in elevation gain, the boiling point decreases by approximately 1.1F/0.5C. Use the following chart to know when your kettle is boiling:
